I've done that; it's blocked on updating all of the dependencies which
are also build on mips64el. If the -mxgot fix doesn't work, I'll
probably chase these down.

I'm trying this approach now; my simple testing showed that adding
-mxgot to CFLAGS and CXXFLAGS should get it building on mips64el and
resolve the bug in the best way.
