When I said "these test failures" I meant: you reported in #1086295 that
meson-python failed multiple of its own tests, and I believe all of the
test failures mentioned in #1086295 were triggered by updates in its
dependencies (if I remember correctly python3-importlib-metadata was
the main update, perhaps the only one).
I am not aware of any specific FTBFS in other source packages caused
by this change. I now realise that you could easily have interpreted
"these test failures" as meaning "not only #1086295, but other FTBFS
bugs", but that wasn't what I meant.
It might be best if you skip reporting FTBFS for anything that
build-depends on python3-mesonpy until those packages have had a chance to
be retried with 0.17.1, though.
