Control: tags -1 + moreinfo Control: severity -1 normal Control: retitle -1 python-biopython: setuptools test command is removed
Aloha Matthias, Matthias Klose, on 2024-08-27: > setuptools test command is removed, the package at least uses this command > in it's autopkg tests. The python-biopython package relies directly on the script run_tests.py below the Tests/ directory and does not run the python setup.py test to trigger the test suite. I'm checking with setuptools 73.0.1-1, and as far as I can witness, the test suite is still triggering and running properly both at build and autopkgtest time. I do see the necessary definitions in the setup.py file allow for running setuptools test, but we're not using it. Maybe they should be patched out to make sure they aren't usable any way? For now I don't see any issue, at least none being serious, so I reduced the severity to normal. If I missed something, please do let me know. At the moment I'm under the impression this issue was a false positive and consider closing it in a couple of days. Thanks for your work on trying to identify tests that might otherwise cease more or less silently to operate properly following this change! I do think it is particularly useful. Have a nice day, :) -- .''`.
