Greetings! As reported before, timidity has a serious issue where it occupies
the system's ALSA device, causing PulseAudio to break. The issue can be
temporarily resolved by killing the timidity daemon. I permanently resolved it
by uninstalling timidity, though the fix a previous user reported with the
audio group might work as well. A more permanent fix would be to redirect
timidity's output to PulseAudio, since using solely ALSA is rare in Linux
distros these days.
