Hello all,
This issue was fixed by initramfs-tools version 0.143 in experimental.
I have just uploaded version 0.143.1 to unstable, so you should be able
to get the fix through a regular upgrade in a few hours (if using
unstable) or days (if using testing).
I've tested it and seems to work fine for me. Thanks!
With initramfs-tools 0.143.1, without any configurations (in particular
without the MODULES=dep) I see:
122M initrd.img-6.9.12-amd64
122M initrd.img-6.9.9-amd64
And if I uninstall the firmware-nvidia-graphics that I don't need, it's
back to it's ~80M:
82M initrd.img-6.9.12-amd64
82M initrd.img-6.9.9-amd64
I mounted a tmpfs on /boot to do these tests, as otherwise it gets
tricky with the space :)
I'll continue using MODULES=dep for now, as that makes more than 2
kernels fit in the /boot partition, and apt handles than great in that
case (uninstalls the third, etc.).
Thanks again!
