The debootstrap set was uploaded, including a new glibc and
base-files. The owner and exact management of /lib64 has changed.
libguestfs tests now fail, possibly indicating it relies on some
intricate details of the /lib64 symlink. Please investigate and
update the source/tests.

Now that the debootstrap package set has migrated to trixie, I ran the
tests locally and looked at ci.debian.net and they succeed in both
cases.
It is very plausible that this was a temporary problem as /lib64 would
go missing when combining an old base-files with a newer glibc or vice
versa. Now that these are all in sync and propagated, stuff seems to
work again.
Thus closing the bug.
