typing 'thunderbird' at the console results in

the same happens when I try 'thunderbird -safe-mode':
[EMAIL PROTECTED]:~$ thunderbird -safe-mode
/usr/lib/thunderbird/run-mozilla.sh: line 131: 4055 Segmentation fault
"$prog" ${1+"$@"}
Of course, trying to launch the program from Gnome's menu results in a
silent failure.
