Package: alsa-utils Version: 1.0.11-6 Severity: critical Justification: breaks unrelated software
After installing alsa-utils, I can no longer get sound with esd (the only device that was working). Indeed, when using "ogg123 -d esd" or "mpg123 -o esd", I get the error: /dev/dsp: No such device If I use no such option, I get: ALSA lib confmisc.c:670:(snd_func_card_driver) cannot find card '0' ALSA lib conf.c:3479:(_snd_config_evaluate) function snd_func_card_driver returned error: No such device ALSA lib confmisc.c:391:(snd_func_concat) error evaluating strings ALSA lib conf.c:3479:(_snd_config_evaluate) function snd_func_concat returned error: No such device ALSA lib confmisc.c:1070:(snd_func_refer) error evaluating name ALSA lib conf.c:3479:(_snd_config_evaluate) function snd_func_refer returned error: No such device ALSA lib conf.c:3947:(snd_config_expand) Evaluate error: No such device ALSA lib pcm.c:2146:(snd_pcm_open_noupdate) Unknown PCM default ALSA snd_pcm_open error: No such device Error: Cannot open device alsa09. as before. -- System Information: Debian Release: testing/unstable APT prefers testing APT policy: (900, 'testing'), (900, 'stable'), (200, 'unstable') Architecture: powerpc (ppc) Shell: /bin/sh linked to /bin/bash Kernel: Linux 2.6.17-1-powerpc Locale: LANG=POSIX, LC_CTYPE=en_US.ISO8859-1 (charmap=ISO-8859-1) Versions of packages alsa-utils depends on: ii dialog 1.0-20060221-1 Displays user-friendly dialog boxe ii libasound2 1.0.11-3 ALSA library ii libc6 2.3.6-15 GNU C Library: Shared libraries ii libncurses5 5.5-2 Shared libraries for terminal hand ii linux-sound-base 1.0.11-4 base package for ALSA and OSS soun ii lsb-base 3.1-10 Linux Standard Base 3.1 init scrip ii module-init-tools 3.2.2-3 tools for managing Linux kernel mo ii modutils 2.4.27.0-6 Linux module utilities ii pciutils 1:2.2.1-2 Linux PCI Utilities ii python 2.3.5-11 An interactive high-level object-o ii whiptail 0.52.2-5.1 Displays user-friendly dialog boxe Versions of packages alsa-utils recommends: pn alsa-base <none> (no description available) -- no debconf information -- To UNSUBSCRIBE, email to [EMAIL PROTECTED] with a subject of "unsubscribe".
