Package: gnome-panel
Severity: serious

We have the following in the gnome-panel-data postinst:
gconftool-2 --direct --config-source=${GCONF_CONFIG_SOURCE} --load
${SCHEMA_LOCATION}/panel-default-setup.entries >/dev/null

This messes with the default gconf source, overriding system
administrator changes and violating the FHS.

It should be replaced by a file handled by update-gconf-defaults. I'll
dig into it later if no one else does, but the RC bug should remain open
until this is fixed.

 .
   * Install default entries properly (closes: #369858).
+ rules: move the entries to /usr/share/gconf/defaults.
     + control.in: depend on gconf2 2.14.0-2 instead of ${misc:Depends}.
+ Call update-gconf-defaults in postinst and postrm.
+ gnome-panel-data.postinst: recursively unset the entries in /etc.
From now on, the administrator will be able to use this place to
       customize the default panel layout.
