Source: feedreader
Version: 2.10.0-1.1
Severity: important
feedreader uses libsoup2.4 and librest and gnome-online-accounts.
gnome-online-accounts and librest are switching to libsoup3 and we
will not be providing a separate source package for those to enable
continuing to use those libraries with libsoup2.4
It is not possible for an app to link against both libsoup2.4 and
libsoup3 simultaneously. Therefore, feedreader will need to be
switched to use libsoup3 or it will be removed from Debian soon.
Some alternative apps are gnome-feeds and akregator, both available in
Debian. The upstream feedreader maintainer has archived feedreader
with a suggestion to use newsflash instead. newsflash is written in
Rust which makes it difficult to package in Debian using Debian's best
practices of devendoring. (It at least is blocked by the rust bindings
for libadwaita not being available in Debian yet.)
