Drats - but also, thank you for confirming that.  I'd read the announcement, 
and it is
clear, but then somehow afterwards forgot, and thought that the relevant
closing date was one week before the release itself.  I'll return to this after
bookworm is out and until then will try to relax and perhaps may even be able to
de-serious myself temporarily to allow 'celebration'.  Anyway, a revert patch is
attached, although naturally it'd be better to determine the cause.
