In Debian 12 under Sway the GNOME Authentication Agent segfaults, but I will take this up under separate cover. I was able to work around the issue for the moment by using lxpolkit for the authentication agent instead.
On my Debian 11 XFCE machine this works correctly. Make sure "PolicyKit
Authentication Agent" is checked under "Session and Startup" ->
"Application Autostart".
