Yes, but I have not snmpd installed.

Here output from work with cisco:

$ snmpget -v1 -c public n2-core.mipt.ru 1.3.6.1.2.1.1.1.0

SNMPv2-MIB::sysDescr.0 = STRING: Cisco Internetwork Operating System Software IOS (tm) s72033_rp Software (s72033_rp-PK9SV-M), Version 12.2(18)SXD3, RELEASE SOFTWARE (fc1) Snmpget don't need snmpd to work. Does tinysnmpget need snmpd? Thus dependence must be fixed.
