The problem exist only in unstable, and to have the problem, you'd need to not upgrade notcurses although it has a newer version. So, it's technically correct to need the newer version. But then the question is, how big is the issue? Do we need to tell users of growlight to update notcurses by having the tighter relation? Remember, because of the transition, growlight already has the versioned dependency on the newer SONAME version. So, it's more a matter of, does it really help and is the current issue worth it.
So technically you may be right, my argument is more, is it worth it (because how much is really improved)?
