chemical-mime-data build-depends on the unmaintained gnome-mime-data
package, which appears to have been used by the GNOME 2 gnome-vfs
libraries, which became obsolete with the release of GNOME 3 in 2011 and
were finally removed from Debian last year. This is the only dependency
in Debian unstable that would be broken by removing gnome-mime-data.

All vaguely modern versions of GNOME (and all other major desktop
environments, as far as I know) use the freedesktop.org shared-mime-info
database for MIME types. chemical-mime-data appears to contain data to
extend both the newer shared-mime-info and the old gnome-mime-data.

Please either extend shared-mime-info only (and stop extending,
build-depending on or suggesting gnome-mime-data), or get these MIME
types incorporated into the upstream shared-mime-info package so that
chemical-mime-data can turn into a transitional package.

Thanks,
    smcv

Changes:
 chemical-mime-data (0.1.94-7.2) unstable; urgency=medium
 .
   * Non-maintainer upload
 .
   [ Daniel Leidert ]
   * Fix Vcs-* fields in debian/control after migrating package to Git.
   * Use overlay layout for git-buildpackage.
 .
   [ Simon McVittie ]
   * Import changelog entry from reproducible-builds NMU
   * Remove support for the obsolete gnome-mime-data system.
GNOME has used the freedesktop.org shared MIME infrastructure since
the release of GNOME 3 in 2011, and possibly longer. gnome-mime-data
was used by gnome-vfs, which was finally removed from Debian in 2019.
     With gnome-mime-data disabled, debian/patches/652153_drop_gmd.patch has
no practical effect and can be dropped. (Closes: #947900)
