Well, some packages don't care where their startup binary is. LO does.

Probably because dpkg installed over the symlink?


In any  case this looks like a case for a reinstall. Or apt install
--reinstall fun after you fixed the system and reinstalled the essential
utilities from there (and be it dpkg --root= or deb-deb -x playing).

In any case still no bug anywhere here except in your symlinking back then.
