I finally found some time to reproduce this with [1]. I tested fatrace manually, and I don't find any way any more to get open_by_handle_at() or fanotify to work in an LXC container with the default security profile any more. As I don't have any influence over the container setting in production debci, I'm afraid my only way out is to apply "isolation-machine" to fatrace-currentmount as well.
