Hello Adrian, thanks for your effort. As you probably know, my interest is to provide Debian packages for old distributions too. However, I think I will follow this, and remove the burden from Debian folk, and work in the future with an approach, where I will generate the control file based on the target version, where I continue to build for even oldest OSes myself, and provide to NeuroDebian and Debian a cleaner version.
Please allow for a bit of time before I manage, I am aiming at my next major upstream release to be clear of this. I believe it might be a week away. I am OK with the NMU, but I am not Yaroslav, so I don't know for certain. Yours, Kay
