Package: debian-doc-ja
Version: 2.2.2.2
Priority: serious

The Japanese translation of doc-debian has not been updated for over 4
years. In its current status it is not up-to-date with the latest FAQ and
probably provides inacurate and/or misleading information.

I don't think this package is suitable for release and should be pulled
from the archive and it's contents moved to the DDP CVS in case a new
translator wants to update the translation.

Unfortunately, tasksel will install this package if a user selects the
'Japanese' task. This means that removing the package from the archive will
break installation for users selecting japanese in their installation
unless taksel is also modified.

Alternatively, a dummy package with just a single text file refering the
user to doc-debian could be pushed to sarge to prevent providing this
information to users. Or (I don't believe it can be done in time), some
translator from the Japanese team could upload a new updated translation.

Release Team, maybe this RC bug could be tagged sarge-ignore but I believe
it would be a disservice to our users to provide such out of date FAQ in
the archive.

Regards

Javier

Hello Javier,
debian-doc-ja has been removed from unstable:
%rmadison doc-debian-ja
doc-debian-ja | 2.2.2.2 | oldstable | source, all
doc-debian-ja | 2.2.2.2 | stable | source, all

so I close this bug report.

Cheers,
