I had to deinstall and reinstall vim-common, which screwed up the alternatives
it seemed. There is not automatic fetching of vim-* by vim (which is good),
but in the end, I was left with a system that did not have vim nor any other
editor (vim.basic worked). Only after installing vim-python did /usr/bin/vim
come back to the old working state.
