I'm not the maintainer, but according to libccdb's documentataion it does use freedb.org as the default server, *but* it can also be used with other compatible servers. http://libcddb.sourceforge.net/API/cddb__conn_8h.html#54641c0dac5234713f1916d8d70d8e8b Afaik gnudb.org should be such a compatible server.
