Package: pm-utils
Version: 1.4.1-18
Severity: serious

As former maintainer of pm-utils, I don't want to see pm-utils released
with buster.
pm-utils is a set of hacks/scripts which back in the days were necessary
to successfully suspend/hibernate your system.
Nowadays, those hacks do more more harm then good.
Upstream is dead for years, so there is no-one around anymore to update
the software to drop all the hacks that are no longer necessary.
In its current state, we would do a disservice to our users, if we
released the software with buster.

Hi!
As, despite repeated questions, not a single actual problem has been
provided. Thus, this bug is not just not RC, it's not a bug at all.
Time to close, then.

The new maintainer, Ian Jackson, seems to be quite busy, and did not
decide yet whether to drop the i386 parts. But, even if untestable
for most of us, they're unlikely to regress -- and thus, will still
serve owners of hardware of that era.

For the rest of us, on new hardware, pm-utils works well, which can't
be said about a particular alternative.
