Alas, things went way over the original timeline.  Scribus 1.6 actually
seems to me to be more further aways from a release than it was last
August.

I just wrote to upstream; if they don't stop me, I'll go ahead and
package 1.5, which is not considered "production ready", but really
nobody can notice how it isn't :)

Either way, expect something to happen in 1-2 weeks.
