To summarise where I understand things are at now: Martin's uploaded a pcp package for rebuild which drops the python2 build steps. I think this is fine and solves the immediate, pressing issue. The intent with the build system is/was to allow pcp deb builds on older Debian platforms as well, where python(2) may be the only option. But, it looks like python3 has been present in all supported Debian versions going back to debian8 so perhaps it is time to make Martin's change in upstream PCP too? Ken and Andreas, this would mean we set Debian8 (and the equivalent Ubuntu release) as the minimum required for Makepkgs builds. Would that be a problem for anyone?
