It would be great if we could get this patch into buster. I realize that a new version may not be possible, but applying a patch to fix an FTBFS might be. As an upstream Git LFS maintainer, I'm already seeing people trying to build git-lfs packages on buster and (in Ubuntu) disco and failing to do so because of this bug.
