Hello. Apologies for not replying sooner. Your mail from October[1] never reached me, and during the past three weeks I have been rather ill. > Dear maintainer of ncurses, could you please upload a backport of > ncurses-term? I am afraid this will be difficult. For starters, ncurses 6.1 has introduced a new terminfo format, and several important libraries in stretch such as libslang2 are not compatible with it. So it is not advisable to just rebuild the buster ncurses package on stretch. It would be possible to build the terminfo database in the old format, but that requires a few non-trivial packaging changes, and I would not be comfortable to upload such a package to backports when these changes had never been tested in unstable. Maybe you could re-add the missing terminfo files in the dvtm backport? In that case, they should be installed under /lib/terminfo rather than under /usr/share/terminfo to avoid clashes with the files in ncurses-term.
