I did investigate a little more ... by adding in xorg.conf AND /usr/lib/X11/fs/config
BOTH the path inside /usr/lib/X11/fonts AND /usr/share/fonts/X11 xemacs is not crashing anymore and seems to work, but emacs is still showing boxes instead of fonts and both editors still output warnings ...
