When start retroarch it shows the following error output:

/usr/local/lib/site_perl /usr/lib/x86_64-linux-gnu/perl-base) at -e line 6.
BEGIN failed--compilation aborted at -e line 6.
After installing "libx11-protocol-perl" and restarting retroarch the error
output is gone.

This message is caused by xdg-screensaver, which is part of xdg-utils,
which recommends libx11-protocol-perl. The latter is only needed for
GNOME, which is why it’s only a recommendation.
