Sadly no since I tried half a day... I think in the end removing most packages 
starting with fonts- (just enough to not completely remove the system) helped. 
Also /etc/fonts/conf.d now consists only out of dejavue - maybe you can get to 
that state and it works then (probably also log the removed packages)
