Package: python-minimal
Version: 2.7.15-3
Severity: serious

Hi,

an upgrade test with piuparts revealed that packages using
python-central (last seen in oldstable) may have been kept installed
over all distupgrade steps to buster. But these packages cannot be
uninstalled any longer, since pycentral errors out with

ValueError: /usr/bin/python does not match the python default version.
It must be reset to point to python2.7

since the /usr/bin/python symlink points to python2 instead of python2.7

Let's ensure that these cruft packages get removed on upgrades from
stretch to buster (before the new python-minimal is unpacked) by adding
  Conflicts: python-central
to python-minimal.

An upgrade log from python-irclib showing this problem is attached.

Thanks

Andreas
