A big upside of this kind of bugs is revealing unmaintained packages.
I see no benefit for such a NMU: the package is in the key set, thus
doesn't even suffer from autoremovals.

We really want a maintainer upload to prove this package sees at least
occasional maintenance.  If it doesn't, then, as jcristau said, it should be
orphaned eventually -- but there's no hurry in doing the latter.  One of the
bug parties before Buster freeze would be a good time.
