Package: firefox
Version: 60.0.2-1
Severity: grave
Justification: renders package unusable

Dear Maintainer,

So, a few days ago, apt autoremoved ffmpeg's libraries (libavcodec57,
libavdevice57, libavfilter6, libavformat57, libavutil55, libswresample2,
libswscale4 and a couple more) because they were no longer needed by any
package.
Actually, they were direct dependencies of chromium up to 67.0.3396.79-1, and,
after the upgrade to 67.0.3396.79-2, which makes chromium use its embedded
ffmpeg code, so they are no longer needed.

However, it seems that firefox also uses them for its html5 support, e.g. h264
video playback. And without them, firefox either switches to flash on sites
that do have flash as a fallback option, which is patheric in terms of
performance, or does not play the relevant media at all and pops up a message
like "unsuppored file format" or something. When lauched from a terminal, this
message comes up

 $ firefox
[Parent 19225, Gecko_IOThread] WARNING: pipe error (120): Connection reset by
peer: file
/build/firefox-6iUvb9/firefox-60.0.2/ipc/chromium/src/chrome/common/ipc_channel_posix.cc,
line 353

Reinstalling the above libraries brings back that precious html5 support, so
please make them as direct dependencies.

All of the above apply to firefox-esr of experimental as well, so please update
that package as well.

Thank you in advance.
