Oh, I had assumed that the program works from the bug title and last
comment, thank you for correcting me.

I currently the build from Anki's website and I must say that I find
this program very effective, I am happy to see that it will be available
in Debian eventually. I hope to see this happen sometimes soon and that
you will consider letting it migrate if it is ever in a usable shape.
