Until this weekend, Ubuntu 18.04 Alpha's rhythmbox built the visualizer plugin, but now that plugin has been removed upstream from the rhythmbox source. Debian used to have a few other packages depend on mx. (I mentioned them in my original bug report). Maybe the library is still installed by some people who have upgraded from older versions of Debian? Thanks, Jeremy Bicha
