Package: postfix Version: 3.1.4-4 Severity: grave Hello,
I'm rather a baby sysadmin, and I am currently installing my new web and mail server on debian stretch.
I got stuck on this bug (?), and the hints given on the linked page (https://bugs.debian.org/cgi-bin/bugreport.cgi?bug=850430) helped me to (apparently) fix my setup.
I had the following messages in my log, when trying to send a mail from an inner mail account to another : May 9 22:07:48 octy postfix/qmgr[5459]: AA31323495: from=<bast...@octy.fr>, size=528, nrcpt=1 (queue active) May 9 22:07:48 octy postfix/smtp[6270]: fatal: unknown service: private/dovecot-lmtp/tcp May 9 22:07:49 octy postfix/qmgr[5459]: warning: private/lmtp socket: malformed response May 9 22:07:49 octy postfix/qmgr[5459]: warning: transport lmtp failure -- see a previous warning/fatal/panic logfile record for the problem description May 9 22:07:49 octy postfix/master[1171]: warning: process /usr/lib/postfix/sbin/smtp pid 6270 exit status 1 May 9 22:07:49 octy postfix/master[1171]: warning: /usr/lib/postfix/sbin/smtp: bad command startup -- throttling May 9 22:07:49 octy postfix/error[6271]: AA31323495: to=<maitrepo...@octy.fr>, relay=none, delay=397, delays=396/1.2/0/0.03, dsn=4.3.0, status=deferred (unknown mail transport error)
When I performed the following change in my master.cf file, the problem seemed to be solved ("lmtp unix - - y - - smtp" line --> "lmtp unix - - y - - lmtp" line). I don't know exactly what it means, but I thought I should inform the community.
It's my first (almost) bug report, I hope it's clear enough. Regards, Bastien
