initrd-tools is not used at all for 2.6.15 kernels.  I guess you mean
initramfs-tools, but this lack of clarity doesn't help us to understand your
bug report.  Perhaps you could explain how these errors are initramfs-tools'
fault so we can fix those bugs, instead of asserting that yaird should be
made a default.
