The other part of the problem was that the obsolete ffmpeg carried the 0.8 libav version number, but it was really a older version of ffmpeg from before the great schism. The latest version of get_iplayer has workarounds, though they won't be necessary for stretch, thankfully. However: As get_iplayer's maintainer, I implore anyone listening, in the name of all that is holy: do not release get_iplayer with stretch. It is far too volatile, and has just been scuppered again by the BBC. I have enough headaches from Ubuntu promulgating obsolete versions - please don't add to them. Keeping get_iplayer out of jessie was the right move, and it's still the right move for stretch.
