Did that, the logs are very unclear. The log only states:
======> building lualatex-example.pdf <======

sed: can't read lualatex-example.log: No such file or directory

Which is suprising. On my normal system here I can run the above command
without problems:
$ 'lualatex' '--interaction' 'errorstopmode' '--jobname' 'lualatex-example'
'\RequirePackage[extension=.pdf]{texdepends}\input{lualatex-example.tex}'
This is LuaTeX, Version 0.95.0 (TeX Live 2016/Debian)
restricted system commands enabled.
....
Output written on lualatex-example.pdf (1 page, 4576 bytes).
Transcript written on lualatex-example.log.
$
I will try to run it in a clean cowbuilder with only the build-deps
installed and see what might be the reason.
