Hi, As can be seen in #852513 (for example), grub-install will happily ignore errors from efibootmgr and claim "Installation finished. No error reported". This is clearly bogus, and can lead to users with unbootable systems after upgrades with potentially no warning up-front (hence the severity). I've got a small patch prepared locally which I'm about to send upstream. I'll add a link here shortly to the mailing list archive. Cheers, Steve
