Dear Maintainer, This issue reminds me of problems I had installing the lazarus and fpc packages under Ubuntu a number of years ago (inability to compile in IDE). It may still be that same bug, although the packages have been fixed for lazarus 1.2.4 and fpc 2.6.4. The suggestion on the FreePascal forums, and in other places, is to install both from source.
