Then please work to revise the DFSG or policy to exclude packages like ndiswrapper from main. As things stand, ndiswrapper and its kin qualify. Nothing requires software in main to have a point or be the easiest way to achieve a goal. Without something to work on, an assembler is just as useless as ndiswrapper. Which package(s) in main depend on nasm? Why not file a bug report against it, demanding that it be moved to contrib? (That is a rhetorical question. Your answer will probably help you understand why I said the main reason to push against ndiswrapper is a grudge.)
