Package: linkchecker Version: 9.3-1 Severity: grave Tags: upstream patch Forwarded: https://github.com/wummel/linkchecker/issues/566
Since Jessie, linkchecker is mostly useless because it fails to check HTTPS URLs. Although it correctly checks plaintext URLs, the HTTPS URLs are so common that it makes it impossible to use it on any site that has any link to an HTTPS site, or is an HTTPS site itself. I have made a patch upstream: https://patch-diff.githubusercontent.com/raw/wummel/linkchecker/pull/656.patch Which was bundled in the 9.3-1.1 NMU, but the issue still affects jessie. -- System Information: Debian Release: 8.6 APT prefers stable-updates APT policy: (500, 'stable-updates'), (500, 'proposed-updates'), (500, 'stable'), (1, 'testing') Architecture: amd64 (x86_64) Kernel: Linux 4.6.0-0.bpo.1-amd64 (SMP w/2 CPU cores) Locale: LANG=fr_CA.UTF-8, LC_CTYPE=fr_CA.UTF-8 (charmap=UTF-8) Shell: /bin/sh linked to /bin/dash Init: systemd (via /run/systemd/system) Versions of packages linkchecker depends on: ii libc6 2.19-18+deb8u6 ii python 2.7.9-1 ii python-requests 2.8.1-1~bpo8+1 linkchecker recommends no packages.
