The problem was caused by a Chrome extension. That extension loaded
http://ajax.googleapis.com/ajax/libs/webfont/1/webfont.js and after this
file was loaded (according to the Network tab in the dev tools) the popup
appeared. As the extension is not present in the store anymore, I've just
deleted it and won't debug this further.
