well, to be clear: it crashing directly on a connection attempt.
Also with mysql-workbench unable to connect.
But 1.1.4 worked for me in that scenario..

That said, I of course tried on a uptodate system (amd64)
Maybe anyone can shed a light on what happens here if (s)he can reproduce it.
Maybe then we can even get a uptodate version of mysql-connector-c++ into
Debian...
(The question also is whether a mysql-connector-c++ 1.1.3-7 _built now_
will still work...)
