Package: gdm3
Version: 3.14.1-7
Severity: serious

After dist-upgrade to jessie, I encountered the problem described here:

https://bugs.debian.org/cgi-bin/bugreport.cgi?bug=724731

Basically, the greeter screen appears but without any login field or
list of users.

In my case, Lucas's solution was necessary:

  pam-auth-update --force
  systemctl restart gdm3

and now I can log in.

Somebody mentions having systemd-ui on their system, I don't have that
package though, should it have been installed?

I also tried adding task-gnome-desktop but that didn't help.

Regards,

Daniel

Hello!

This bug report was tagged moreinfo almost a year ago, but no real
feedback has been provided since I'm thus closing it here now.
As far as I can see the problems was because of missing pam-systemd
installations. If you're seeing this problem in a current environment
and it's not caused by missing pam-systemd, please feel free to
reopen this bug report and provide some useful information!

Regards,
Andreas Henriksson
