This bug recently came up on sparclinux list, and the fix by Ian Viemeister has been acked by Dave Miller and confirmed working by gentoo people. Since afbinit is currently broken with sid kernels, I'm bumping the severity up a bit. It would be very nice to upload a new afbinit, fixing this bug and #250619, which has been open for over a year and a half now. If you don't have time to do that, I would be glad to prepare a fixed package, which you or Frans Pop could upload.
