Hi, Juhani, I'm contacting you on behalf of the Debian Science team. We had a user contact us regarding the official Debian package for Elmer and whether it would be possible to bring it up to date. He noted your PPA, but there are advantages to bringing it into Debian directly, especially since Debian packages are automatically pulled into Ubuntu and other Debian derivatives. Debian itself also provides a means to bring newer releases to its Stable release so users of Debian Stable are not stuck with old software.
We have not had anyone work on the Elmer package here for several years, so the package is in bad shape and about to be removed from the archive.
