I suppose this is due to a botched attempt to build this package on Andreas-Jochens pure-64 unofficial fork, and if so i am not familiar with the packaging changes which were added to your source package. If this is not the case, and you are simply trying to build the 32bit userland powerpc package on a 64bit powerpc machine, with 32bit kernel since 3.08.3-3 is sarge material, i would very much like more information about your situation. I have myself now a 64bit machine too, which i will set up in the next few weeks, so i will be able to tell you more about this.
