Package: mysql-server-5.5
Version: 5.5.44-0+deb8u1
Severity: grave
File: /etc/init.d/mysql
I have circumvented the problem reported in #798743 by removing
if [ -x "/etc/init.d/mysql" ]; then
update-rc.d mysql defaults 19 21 >/dev/null
invoke-rc.d mysql start || exit $?
fi
from mysql-server-5.5.postinst and try to start the server by hand.
The command
update-rc.d mysql defaults 19 21 >/dev/null
works, but
invoke-rc.d mysql start
yields
Job for mysql.service failed. See 'systemctl status mysql.service' and
'journalctl -xn' for details.
invoke-rc.d: initscript mysql, action "start" failed.
