Ok, after adding dh_autoreconf (and dh ... --with autoreconf) to get a proper configure script, building here in a clean chroot succeeded. Unfortunately with warnings that I graciously ignore: cd .. && ../asy -dir ../base -config "" -render=0 -f png -o png/ markers1.asy failed to create directory /nonexistent/.asy. Before uploading I am now building the current package on MIPS (minkus) to see if it really works out.
